Position Summary
Application Engineer is responsible for developing technical and commercial solutions for natural gas compression applications. This role supports the sales and project teams by evaluating client requirements, selecting appropriate compressor equipment, and preparing accurate technical proposals and cost estimates that meet performance, reliability, and code requirements.
Responsibilities:
Review, develop, and approve project documentation, including but not limited to datasheets, bill of materials, drawings, layouts, and specifications
Interface with clients to clarify technical requirements, manage scope changes, and resolve technical issues
Support procurement of compressors, drivers, coolers, vessels, piping, and auxiliary equipment
Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and subcontractors to ensure technical compliance, schedule adherence, and timely delivery
Monitor project schedule, cost, and progress; report deviations and corrective actions
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
Support HAZOP, risk assessments, and design reviews
Ensure HSE and quality requirements are met throughout engineering and fabrication
Support shop fabrication, inspections, and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
Coordinate site installation, commissioning, and start-up support as required
Participate in project close-out and documentation handover
Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and business needs
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
Experience with project controls, scheduling, and cost tracking
Strong knowledge of natural gas compression systems and package components
Experience with skid-mounted equipment design and fabrication
Familiarity with industry codes and standards (API 618/617, API 11P, ASME, etc.)
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with project management and CAD tools is an advantage
Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in both office and field environments
Willingness to travel to fabrication shops and client sites
preferred skills:
Experience with reciprocating or centrifugal compressors
Knowledge of PLC/controls integration and instrumentation for compressor packages
Experience with FAT and commissioning activities
