Position Summary
The Oil and Gas Emissions Technician is responsible for monitoring, and measuring, exhaust emissions and other pollutants from natural gas compression units. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that companies are in compliance with environmental regulations and site-specific limits while minimizing the environmental impact of operations.
Responsibilities:
Emissions Monitoring and Detection:
Operate and maintain emissions detection equipment such as ECOM J2KN-Pro analyzer
Conduct regular quarterly emission testing.
Conduct pre-compliance testing.
Use EPA-approved methodologies and equipment for Leak Detection.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Record, log, and analyze emissions data to track trends and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Prepare detailed reports on emission levels and leak detection.
Submit required emissions reports to management and company management.
Emissions Control and Mitigation:
Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to recommend and implement technologies or methods to reduce emissions.
Provide feedback to the operations team on best practices for minimizing leaks and emissions during daily activities.
Field Support and Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of emissions analyzer and monitoring equipment.
Troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions or inefficiencies during field operations.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Adhere to all health and safety protocols while conducting fieldwork.
Ensure that environmental safety guidelines are strictly followed in all monitoring and maintenance tasks.
Participate in safety and environmental training sessions.
Qualifications & Knowledge:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
2+ years of field experience in emissions monitoring or environmental compliance, ideally in the oil and gas industry.
Experience with emissions detection technologies.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of EPA and state-level air quality regulations, particularly related to oil and gas emissions.
Proficiency in using emissions monitoring and reporting software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently in remote field locations, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with field personnel, regulatory agencies, and company management.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver license and clean driving record
Forklift operator certification
Must exhibit a high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal
Frequent standing, bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, reaching, working at elevated heights.
Must be able to lift and/or carry objects weighing at least 50 pounds
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to remote oil and gas sites for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment.
Comfortable working in potentially hazardous environments, with appropriate safety equipment and precautions.
