Position Summary

Application Engineer is responsible for developing technical and commercial solutions for natural gas compression applications. This role supports the sales and project teams by evaluating client requirements, selecting appropriate compressor equipment, and preparing accurate technical proposals and cost estimates that meet performance, reliability, and code requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze client inquiries, process data, and operating conditions for natural gas compression applications
  • Perform equipment sizing and selection for compressors, drivers, coolers, and auxiliary systems
  • Develop compressor package configurations, layouts, and technical concepts
  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals, including datasheets, scope of supply, and deviations
  • Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for equipment selection, pricing, and technical compliance
  • Evaluate client specifications, bid documents, and applicable codes and standards
  • Support cost estimation, budgeting, and lead-time evaluation
    Interface with sales, project engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure proposal accuracy
  • Participate in technical clarifications, bid meetings, and client presentations
  • Support handover of awarded projects to the project execution team

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of natural gas compression systems and package components
  • Experience with skid-mounted equipment design and fabrication
    Familiarity with industry codes and standards (API 618/617, API 11P, ASME, etc.)
  • Experience preparing technical and commercial proposals
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with sizing software and CAD tools is an advantage
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills

preferred skills:

  • Knowledge of process calculations, gas composition analysis, and performance curves
  • Experience with driver selection (gas engines, electric motors, turbines)
  • Understanding of controls, instrumentation, and automation for compressor packages

Work Environment:

  • Office-based engineering role with interaction across sales, engineering, and vendors
  • Occasional travel to client meetings, OEMs, or fabrication facilities

  • Brock, TX : Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
