Position Summary

We are hiring an experienced Field Operations Technician to support natural gas compression operations in the Permian Basin. This role requires strong hands-on experience with CAT 3600 and 3500 engines and the ability to work independently in the field. Technicians will service, troubleshoot, and maintain gas compression equipment while working directly with customers on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Service and troubleshoot high- and low-speed natural gas engines and compressors
  • Primary focus on CAT 3500 and 3600 series engines
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance with minimal supervision
  • Respond to service calls and resolve issues independently
  • Follow company maintenance procedures and safety standards
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately and on time
  • Support new compression and engine technologies as implemented
  • Work nights, weekends, and extended hours as required

Requirements:

  • Rotational schedule (e.g., 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, or as required).
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with natural gas engines and compressors
  • Strong experience with CAT 3600 engines required
  • Familiarity with OEM diagnostic tools (CAT, Waukesha, etc.)
  • Experience with Ariel, Cooper, Gemini, White, or Dresser-Rand preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be able to work in challenging environments, including extreme weather
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Willingness to mentor junior technicians
  • Must provide personal hand tools up to 1 ¼”
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to remote oil and gas sites for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment.
  • Comfortable working in potentially hazardous environments, with appropriate safety equipment and precautions.
